Frequently asked questions

You have questions about Experience UTS Day? Great. We’ve got answers!

If your question isn’t answered below, you can email us @ future.students@uts.edu.au

General stuff

Do I have to pay to attend?

Nope, it’s free!

How do I get there?

Experience UTS Day is hosted at the UTS campus in Ultimo, easily accessible by both train and bus. We’ll be sending all registrants a reminder email the week of the event with exact locations and tips on getting here.

Can I just rock up on the day if I haven’t registered?

Unfortunately, no. Places are limited and registration is essential.

If places fill up before you get a chance to register, you can still register your interest via the ‘login/register’ tab. Make sure you select the option at the bottom of the form that says ‘Missed out on booking a spot at your preferred session?’

The week before the event we sometime get some dropouts, so we’ll email those students who select this option should sessions become available.

I’m not in year 11 or 12 – can I still attend?

No, but we’re glad you’re already interested in your options! These workshops have been specifically designed for Years 11 and 12 students.

Not to worry, you can still check out our campus at other events. See the UTS events page for other upcoming events.

Can my parents come?

They can, but really this day is intended for students. Workshops have a limited capacity and can’t cater to additional parents in the sessions.

It’s great your folks are keen, but UTS Open Day on Saturday 26 August is a better day to bring the family as we don’t have a capacity restriction. We’ll have 200+ info session, tours and activities on offer that day, so plenty for everyone.

Is lunch included?

Sure is. Lunch is provided to all event registrants and will be held in the UTS Underground food court. It will be a time to relax, listen to some music, eat and get to know some of the other attendees.

I have dietary requirements

No worries. Just make sure you let us know when you are registering. We’ll use this information to get you a lunch option that’s suitable. On the day, ask our team and we’ll show you where the dietary requirement options are located.

What happens if it’s raining?

Put simply, bring an umbrella. All workshops are indoors, so you’ll remain snug and warm. You’ll just need an umbrella to walk between our campus buildings.

For those students registered for the campus tour or surveying workshops, these sessions may be altered if there’s too much rain. But don’t worry, we’ll work out a solution to keep you entertained while the rain does its thing.

What do I wear?

It’s your school holidays, so you can wear whatever is comfortable for you. No need for a school uniform.

For some workshops you’ll be required to wear specific footwear. See the specific workshop descriptions online to make sure you’re prepared.

As a general rule, enclosed footwear is recommended.

None of my friends want to come

Bah, not to worry. Come along on your own! There’ll be over 600 students at the event, many also flying solo. Think, it’s just like uni, you may not know anyone coming in – but by the end of the day you’ll be like Cher from Clueless.

Registration stuff

Note: Registrations will open on 7 June.

Do I have to register for all session times?

No, you can cater the day to what suits you. You can choose to attend only one workshop – or up or up to four workshops in a day. Build a timetable that works for you.

Do I have to go to the Welcome Session?

No, but we recommend you do, it’ll give you a bit of an overview for the day and you can meet some of UTS team.

If you don’t register for a morning workshop session and say have your first workshop in the afternoon, you don’t need to come in for the welcome. Just see our team when you arrive and we can run you through the basics for the day ahead.

I’ve registered, but haven’t received my confirmation/cancellation email?

Check your junk/promotions folder, it may be hidden away there.

All emails will come from ‘UTS Future Students Team’, so maybe opt to unjunk us (we won’t spam you!)

If it isn’t there, we can resend your confirmation email. Just email or call us.

How do I edit my order after I’ve submitted it?

Head to the ‘login/register’ tab and sign in using your username and password.

You can then edit your order, ensuring you select an option in all session times, then submit your new order.

A new confirmation email will be sent to you with your new timetable.

How do I cancel my order after I’ve submitted it?

Ah that’s a shame.

Head to the ‘login/register’ tab and sign in using your username and password.

Select the ‘I am no longer attend’ option, then the ‘submit’ button.

You’ll receive a cancellation email in your inbox.

What if I cancelled my order, but change my mind later on?

If you change your mind and decide to re-register later, you can do this via the ‘log-in/register’ tab.

Use the same username and password generated in your first registration (it will be in your first registration email).
Note, your existing booked workshops will have been cancelled and you will have to choose from the new list of workshops that still have spaces remaining.

If a session is full, is there a waiting list?

No, there is no session waiting list specific to a workshop.

However we’re collecting the emails of students who would like to be notified if places become available closer to the event. Sometimes, as the event gets closer, people drop out.

If you’re interested in getting another workshop as an option, tick the ‘Missed out on booking a spot at your preferred session?’ option.

An email will be sent to all students who have ticked this box the week before the event (should places become available in workshops)

The event is full, but I’m keen?

Sorry you’ve missed out. This event has a limited capacity. We’d love to take everyone, but unfortunately can’t. You still have a chance to visit our campus. See the UTS events page for other upcoming events.

UTS Open Day on Saturday 26 August is the next big one!

Can I go to workshops not listed on my timetable?

No, you’ll need to stick to your timetable on the day. We need to do this as workshops have number restrictions and we can’t go over them for safety/quality etc.

What if I forgot my password?

Access the tab that says ‘my account’. Follow the prompts to a ‘reset my password’.
